두 사람 [ 요한복음 11:30 - 11:37 ]
심령에 비통히 여기시고 불쌍히 여기사…예수께서 눈물을 흘리시더라 - 요한복음 11:33,35
우리 시에서 두 남자가 같은 날에 살해당했습니다. 한 사람은 경찰관으로 어떤 가족을 도와주려고 하다가 총에 맞았고, 다른 사람은 노숙자로 그날 일찍 친구들과 술을 마시다가 총에 맞았습니다.
도시 전체가 그 경찰관을 위해서 슬퍼하였습니다. 그는 다른 사람들을 잘 돌보았던 훌륭한 젊은이로 그가 봉사했던 동네 사람들로부터 사랑을 받았습니다. 반면에 노숙자를 잃은 것 때문에 슬퍼한 사람들은 그를 사랑했던 몇몇 노숙자들뿐이었습니다.
그러나 주님은 그들 모두를 슬퍼하셨다고 나는 생각합니다.
예수님이 마리아와 마르다, 그리고 그들의 친구들이 나사로의 죽음을 슬퍼하는 것을 보셨을 때, “심령에 비통히 여기시고 불쌍히 여기셨습니다”(요 11:33). 예수님은 나사로와 그의 동생들을 사랑하셨습니다. 예수님은 곧 나사로를 죽음에서 일으켜 세울 것을 알고 계셨지만, 그들과 함께 우셨습니다(35절). 어떤 성경학자들은 예수님이 우신 것은 죽음 그 자체에 대해서, 그리고 죽음으로 인해 사람들의 마음에 생기는 고통과 슬픔 때문으로 생각합니다.
죽음으로 인한 상실은 우리 삶에서 겪는 한 부분입니다. 그러나 예수님이 “부활이요 생명이기” 때문에(25절), 예수님을 믿는 사람들은 언젠가 이 모든 죽음과 슬픔이 끝나는 것을 경험하게 될 것입니다. 그때까지 주님은 우리의 상실에 대하여 우리와 함께 우시고, “우는 자들과 함께 울라”(롬 12:15)라고 우리에게 요구하십니다.

동정심이 가득하고 부드러운 마음을 제게 주소서
주위에 몰려오는 도움이 필요한 사람들에게 마음이 움직이고
신성한 연민으로 가득 차게 하소서
연민은 다른 사람들의 상처를 치료하는 데 도움이 된다.
요한복음 11:30-37
[30] 예수는 아직 마을로 들어오지 아니하시고 마르다가 맞이했던 곳에 그대로 계시더라
[31] 마리아와 함께 집에 있어 위로하던 유대인들은 그가 급히 일어나 나가는 것을 보고 곡하러 무덤에 가는 줄로 생각하고 따라가더니
[32] 마리아가 예수 계신 곳에 가서 뵈옵고 그 발 앞에 엎드리어 이르되 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다 하더라
[33] 예수께서 그가 우는 것과 또 함께 온 유대인들이 우는 것을 보시고 심령에 비통히 여기시고 불쌍히 여기사
[34] 이르시되 그를 어디 두었느냐 이르되 주여 와서 보옵소서 하니
[35] 예수께서 눈물을 흘리시더라
[36] 이에 유대인들이 말하되 보라 그를 얼마나 사랑하셨는가 하며
[37] 그 중 어떤 이는 말하되 맹인의 눈을 뜨게 한 이 사람이 그 사람은 죽지 않게 할 수 없었더냐 하더라

Two Men [ John 11:30 - 11:37 ]
He groaned in the spirit and was troubled .... Jesus wept. — John 11:33,35
Two men were killed in our city on the same day. The first, a police officer, was shot down while trying to help a family. The other was a homeless man who was shot while drinking with friends early that day.
The whole city grieved for the police officer. He was a fine young man who cared for others and was loved by the neighborhood he served. A few homeless people grieved for the friend they loved and lost.
I think the Lord grieved with them all.
When Jesus saw Mary and Martha and their friends weeping over the death of Lazarus, “He groaned in the spirit and was troubled”(John 11:33). He loved Lazarus and his sisters. Even though He knew that He would soon be raising Lazarus from the dead, He wept with them(v.35). Some Bible scholars think that part of Jesus’ weeping also may have been over death itself and the pain and sadness it causes in people’s hearts.
Loss is a part of life. But because Jesus is “the resurrection and the life”(v.25), those who believe in Him will one day experience an end of all death and sorrow. In the meantime, He weeps with us over our losses and asks us to “weep with those who weep”(Rom.12:15).

Compassion helps to heal the hurts of others.
John 11:30-37
[30] Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him.
[31] Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there."
[32] Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."
[33] Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.
[34] And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."
[35] Jesus wept.
[36] Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!"
[37] And some of them said, "Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?"
