밀짚 없이 벽돌 만들기 [ 출애굽기 6:1 - 6:13 ]

우리 가운데 많은 사람들이 제한된 자원으로 일해야 하는 힘든 상황에 처해 있습니다. 자금도 쪼들리고, 시간도 부족하고, 에너지는 저하되고, 도와줄 사람은 줄어드는데 해야 할 일은 여전히 똑같습니다. 때로는 할 일이 더 늘어나기도 합니다. 이 같은 곤경을 요약해 표현해주는 말이 있습니다. “더 적은 짚, 더 많은 벽돌.”
이 말은 이스라엘백성들이 애굽에서 노예생활을 하면서 겪은 고초와 관련된 것입니다. 바로는 그들에게 해주던 밀짚공급을 중단하기로 결정하고서도, 그들에게 매일 이전과 같은 수효대로 벽돌을 만들어내라고 요구했습니다. 그들은 재료를 찾기 위해 온 땅을 샅샅이 찾아 헤매야 했고, 바로의 감독관들은 더 열심히 일하라고 그들을 때리며 독촉했습니다(출 5:13). 이스라엘 백성들은 몹시 실망하여, 하나님께서 모세를 통해 “그들의 노역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 여러 큰 심판들로써 너희를 속량하리라”(6:6)고 말씀하실 때 듣지 않았습니다.
이스라엘 백성들이 하나님의 말씀 듣기를 거부했지만, 하나님은 여전히 모세를 이끄시고 지도하시면서 바로 앞에서 말할 수 있게 그를 준비시키셨습니다. 하나님은 은밀히 일하시면서 이스라엘의 편에 견고하게 서 계셨습니다. 우리도 그들처럼 너무 낙담하여 격려하는 말씀을 무시할 수 있습니다. 그러나 어려운 시기에도, 하나님은 우리를 건지시는 분이라는 것을 기억하면 위로가 됩니다(시 40:17). 무엇을 하고 계시는지 우리가 모를지라도, 하나님은 항상 우리를 위해 역사하고 계십니다.
주님, 저의 실망 가운데에서도 주님을 믿을 수 있게 도와주소서.
주님의 성령의 능력을 통하여
저를 희망으로 가득 채워주소서.
제 삶으로 주님의 신실하심을 증언하게 해주소서.
고난의 시기는 믿음이 필요한 때이다.
출애굽기 6:1-13
[1] 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이제 내가 바로에게 하는 일을 네가 보리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 보내리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 그의 땅에서 쫓아내리라
[2] 하나님이 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 여호와이니라
[3] 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 전능의 하나님으로 나타났으나 나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고
[4] 가나안 땅 곧 그들이 거류하는 땅을 그들에게 주기로 그들과 언약하였더니
[5] 이제 애굽 사람이 종으로 삼은 이스라엘 자손의 신음 소리를 내가 듣고 나의 언약을 기억하노라
[6] 그러므로 이스라엘 자손에게 말하기를 나는 여호와라 내가 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼내며 그들의 노역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 여러 큰 심판들로써 너희를 속량하여
[7] 너희를 내 백성으로 삼고 나는 너희의 하나님이 되리니 나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼낸 너희의 하나님 여호와인 줄 너희가 알지라
[8] 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 너희를 인도하고 그 땅을 너희에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하리라 나는 여호와라 하셨다 하라
[9] 모세가 이와 같이 이스라엘 자손에게 전하나 그들이 마음의 상함과 가혹한 노역으로 말미암아 모세의 말을 듣지 아니하였더라
[10] 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되
[11] 들어가서 애굽 왕 바로에게 말하여 이스라엘 자손을 그 땅에서 내보내게 하라
[12] 모세가 여호와 앞에 아뢰어 이르되 이스라엘 자손도 내 말을 듣지 아니하였거든 바로가 어찌 들으리이까 나는 입이 둔한 자니이다
[13] 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하사 그들로 이스라엘 자손과 애굽 왕 바로에게 명령을 전하고 이스라엘 자손을 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내게 하시니라

Bricks Without Straw [ Exodus 6:1 - 6:13 ]
I will rescue you ... , and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm. — Exodus 6:6
Many of us face the challenge of working with limited resources. Equipped with less money, less time, dwindling energy, and fewer helpers, our workload may remain the same. Sometimes, it even increases. There’s a saying that sums up this predicament: “More bricks, less straw.”
This phrase refers to the Israelites’ hardship as slaves in Egypt. Pharaoh decided to stop supplying them with straw, yet he required them to make the same number of bricks each day. They scoured the land to find supplies, while Pharaoh’s overseers beat them and pressured them to work harder(Ex.5:13). The Israelites became so discouraged that they didn’t listen when God said through Moses, “I will rescue you ..., and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm”(6:6).
Although the Israelites refused to hear God’s message, God was still guiding and directing Moses, preparing him to speak to Pharaoh. God remained firmly on Israel’s side—at work behind the scenes. Like the Israelites, we can become so downhearted that we ignore encouragement. In dark times, it’s comforting to remember that God is our deliverer(Ps.40:17). He is always at work on our behalf, even if we can’t see what He is doing.
Lord, please help me to trust You despite my
discouragement. I invite You to fill me with
hope through the power of Your Holy Spirit.
Let my life testify of Your faithfulness.
Times of trouble are times for trust.
Exodus 6:1-13
[1] Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land."
[2] And God spoke to Moses and said to him: "I am the LORD.
[3] "I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD I was not known to them.
[4] "I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers.
[5] "And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
[6] "Therefore say to the children of Israel: 'I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
[7] 'I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
[8] 'And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the LORD.'"
[9] So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.
[10] And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
[11] "Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the children of Israel go out of his land."
[12] And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, "The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?"
[13] Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, and gave them a command for the children of Israel and for Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
