뇌리에 박힌 노래 [ 빌립보서 4:4 - 4:9 ]
무슨 덕이 있든지 무슨 기림이 있든지 이것들을 생각하라 - 빌립보서 4:8
그것들은 굴을 파고, 구멍을 뚫고, 당신의 머릿속에 들러붙습니다. 귀벌레(Earworm)라는 단어는 한때 단지 곤충을 지칭한 단어였지만, 지금은 머리에서 계속 사라지지 않는 노래선율을 뜻하는 단어가 되었습니다. “오늘밤 잠자는 사자”, “바니”, 그리고 개인적으로는 내 머리 속에 꽉 박혀있는 “작은 세상”과 같은 노래들을 말합니다.
이렇게 자신도 모르게 전염된 것을 제거하는 유일한 방법은 그것을 다른 노래, 즉 당신의 “세척제” 역할을 하는 노래로 대체하는 것이라고 사람들은 말합니다. 새로운 가사와 곡조가 이전 것들을 몰아낼 수 있습니다.
어쩌면 우리는 “세척제” 노래를 우리의 정신적 삶에도 이용할 수 있겠습니다. 정욕과 복수심이 스멀스멀 우리 마음속으로 들어올 때, 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 묵상함으로써 우리의 생각을 깨끗하게 하는데 도움이 될 수 있습니다.
성경은 우리에게 “마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여” 주 하나님을 사랑할 것과(마 22:37), “이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로” 변화를 받으라고(롬 12:2) 이야기합니다. 성경은 우리에게 무엇에든지 참되며 경건하며 옳으며 정결하며 사랑 받을 만하며 칭찬 받을 만하며 덕이 있고 기림이 있을 만한 것들을 생각하라고 가르치고 있습니다(빌 4:8).
우리의 마음이 악의 길로 걸어갈 때, 가장 좋은 “세척제”는 성경의 지혜가 우리의 생각과 마음에 스며들게 하는 것입니다(딤후 3:16).
사랑하는 주님, 주님의 말씀을 읽으며시간을 보낼 수 있기를 간절히
원합니다. 말씀을 묵상하면 우리 마음이 주님의 생각으로 채워지고,
우리 생각이 악한 길로 가지 않게 도움이 되는 것을 압니다.
그렇게 할 수 있도록 우리를 도와주소서.
인격은 우리의 생각과 말과 행동을
모두 합쳐 놓은 것이다.
빌립보서 4:4-9
[4] 주 안에서 항상 기뻐하라 내가 다시 말하노니 기뻐하라
[5] 너희 관용을 모든 사람에게 알게 하라 주께서 가까우시니라
[6] 아무 것도 염려하지 말고 다만 모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라
[7] 그리하면 모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희 마음과 생각을 지키시리라
[8] 끝으로 형제들아 무엇에든지 참되며 무엇에든지 경건하며 무엇에든지 옳으며 무엇에든지 정결하며 무엇에든지 사랑 받을 만하며 무엇에든지 칭찬 받을 만하며 무슨 덕이 있든지 무슨 기림이 있든지 이것들을 생각하라

Earworms [ Philippians 4:4 - 4:9 ]
If there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy─meditate on these things. — Philippians 4:8
They burrow. They bore in. They attach themselves inside your head. Earworms, a term once used exclusively for insects, is now the name for those unrelenting tunes that you can’t get out of your head. Songs like, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” the “Barney” song, or my personal nightmare: “It’s a Small World After All.”
They say the only way to rid yourself of the insidious infestation is to re-place it with another tune─your “cleaner” song. New words and a fresh tune can crowd out the old.
Maybe we could use a cleaner song for our thought-life as well. When lustful or vengeful thoughts creep into our minds, reading and meditating on God’s Word can help to clean up our thinking.
Scripture tells us to love the Lord “with all [our] heart, with all [our] soul, and with all [our] mind”(Matt.22:37) and not to “be conformed to this world” but to “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind”(Rom.12:2). It instructs us to think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Phil.4:8).
When our minds wander to evil, the best “cleaner” is to allow the wisdom of the Bible to permeate our thoughts and hearts (2 Tim.3:16). — Cindy Hess Kasper
Dear Lord, our desire is to spend time in Your Word.
We know that meditating on Your Word fills our minds
with thoughts of You and helps to keep our
thinking from wandering to evil. Help us to do so.
Character is the sum total of all our thoughts,
words, and deeds.
Philippians 4:4-9
[4] Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
[5] Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
[6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
[7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
[8] Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
[9] Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
