아버지와 똑같이 Just Like Dad [ 요한복음 5:17 - 5:20 ] - 찬송가 566장

아이가 부모를 따라 하는 것을 보면 사랑스럽지 않습니까? 자동차의 유아용 의자에 앉은 어린 소년이 상상의 운전대를 꼭 잡은 모습으로 아빠가 다음에 무엇을 할지 보기 위해 눈은 운전자를 주의해서 지켜보는 모습을 우리는 얼마나 자주 보는지요.
어렸을 때 나도 그렇게 했던 것을 기억합니다. 아버지가 하는 대로 똑같이 따라 하는 것보다 더 큰 즐거움을 주는 것은 없었습니다. 그리고 아버지는 내가 아버지를 흉내 내는 모습을 보고 나보다 더 즐거워하셨습니다.
마찬가지로 하나님도 그분의 소중한 아들 예수님이 자신이 했던 것처럼 잃어버린 영혼을 구하고, 궁핍한 자를 돕고, 병든 자를 고치는 모습을 보셨을 때 똑같이 느끼셨으리라 생각합니다. 예수님은 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “아들이 아버지께서 하시는 일을 보지 않고는 아무 것도 스스로 할 수 없나니 아버지께서 행하시는 그것을 아들도 그와 같이 행하느니라”(요 5:19).
우리도 이처럼, 즉 “사랑을 받는 자녀같이 하나님을 본받는 자가 되고…사랑 가운데서 행하”(엡 5:1-2)도록 부름 받았습니다. 우리가 계속 성장하여 예수님을 더욱 닮아 가면 우리도 아버지가 하신 것처럼 사랑하고 그가 하신 것처럼 용서하고 돌보며, 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 추구하게 될 것입니다. 사랑하는 아버지의 깊은 애정과 부드러운 미소를 우리가 상으로 받을 것이라는 것을 알면서, 성령의 능력을 힘입어 하나님의 행동을 그대로 따라하는 것은 큰 기쁨입니다.
• 예수님, 우리에게 하나님께 나아가는 길을 보여주셔서 감사합니다.
매일 예수님과 하나님을 더욱 더 닮아가도록 도와주소서.

18. 유대인들이 이로 말미암아 더욱 예수를 죽이고자 하니 이는 안식일을 범할 뿐만 아니라 하나님을 자기의 친 아버지라 하여 자기를 하나님과 동등으로 삼으심이러라
19. 그러므로 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 아들이 아버지께서 하시는 일을 보지 않고는 아무 것도 스스로 할 수 없나니 아버지께서 행하시는 그것을 아들도 그와 같이 행하느니라
20. 아버지께서 아들을 사랑하사 자기가 행하시는 것을 다 아들에게 보이시고 또 그보다 더 큰 일을 보이사 너희로 놀랍게 여기게 하시리라

The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. John 5:19
Isn’t it endearing to see a child mimicking his parents? How often we’ve seen the young boy in a car seat, gripping his imaginary steering wheel intently while keeping a close eye on the driver to see what Daddy does next.
I remember doing the same thing when I was young. Nothing gave me greater pleasure than doing exactly what my dad did—and I’m sure he got an even bigger kick watching me copy his actions.
I would like to think God felt the same way when He saw His dearest Son doing exactly what the Father did—reaching out to the lost, helping the needy, and healing the sick. Jesus said, "the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does"(John 5:19).
We too are called to do the same—to “follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love”(Eph. 5:1–2). As we continue growing to be more like Jesus, may we seek to love like the Father loves, forgive like He forgives, care like He cares, and live in ways that please Him. It is a delight to copy His actions, in the power of the Spirit, knowing that our reward is the affectionate, tender smile of a loving Father. Leslie Koh

18. For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19. Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
20. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
