하나의 가치 [ 누가복음 15:1 - 15:10 ]
어떤 사람이 양 백 마리가 있는데 그 중의 하나를 잃으면 아흔아홉 마리를 들에 두고 그 잃은 것을 찾아내기까지 찾아다니지 아니하겠느냐 - 누가복음 15:4
킴 하스킨즈의 고등학교 졸업식이 있기 불과 몇 시간 전에 일어난 교통사고로 킴의 아버지는 목숨을 잃었고, 킴과 어머니는 병원에 입원하게 되었습니다. 다음 날 킴의 학교 교장인 조 가렛이 병원으로 문병을 와서 그녀를 위해 학교에서 무언가 특별한 것을 해주고 싶다고 말했습니다. 제임스 드류가 작성한 콜로라도스프링스의 지역신문 「가젯」의 기사는, 아버지를 잃은 킴을 매우 안타깝게 생각하던 교사들과 교직원들, 그리고 학우들이 며칠 후 단지 그녀만을 위해 학교 강당을 가득 메우고 졸업식을 가졌다고 전하면서, 학교 측의 넘치는 사랑과 격려에 관한 기사를 썼습니다.
가렛 교장은 “우리는 교육현장에서 뒤처지는 아이가 없어야 한다고 수없이 말합니다. 군대에서도 낙오되는 군인이 없어야 한다고 말합니다. 오늘 이 졸업식을 가지는 것도 소외되는 졸업생이 없어야 하기 때문입니다.”라고 말했습니다.
예수님은 양과 동전, 아들을 비유로 무엇인가를 잃어버린 것에 관한 세 이야기를 말씀하시면서, 하나님께는 한 사람 한 사람이 다 중요하다는 것을 강조하셨습니다(눅 15장). 각각의 이야기에는 아주 귀한 무엇인가를 잃어버린 사람이 그것을 찾았을 때 친구들과 이웃들을 불러 함께 축하하고 기뻐하는 모습을 보여줍니다.
말하고자 하는 요점은 분명합니다. 그것은 우리는 모두 그리스도를 통해 우리에게 용서와 새 생명을 베푸신 하나님께 아주 소중한 존재들이며, 하나님은 그분의 사랑과 은혜로 우리를 신실하게 돌보신다는 것입니다. 죄인 하나가 회개할 때 하늘에서는 큰 기쁨이 있습니다(7절).
잃어버려진 나를 주님이 찾으셨네
길 잃은 양을 찾으시고
사랑의 팔로 나를 두르시고
주님의 길로 나를 다시 인도하셨네
하나님께서 우리를 위해 행하신 일로
우리의 가치가 평가된다.
누가복음 15:1-10
[1] 모든 세리와 죄인들이 말씀을 들으러 가까이 나아오니
[2] 바리새인과 서기관들이 수군거려 이르되 이 사람이 죄인을 영접하고 음식을 같이 먹는다 하더라
[3] 예수께서 그들에게 이 비유로 이르시되
[4] 너희 중에 어떤 사람이 양 백 마리가 있는데 그 중의 하나를 잃으면 아흔아홉 마리를 들에 두고 그 잃은 것을 찾아내기까지 찾아다니지 아니하겠느냐
[5] 또 찾아낸즉 즐거워 어깨에 메고
[6] 집에 와서 그 벗과 이웃을 불러 모으고 말하되 나와 함께 즐기자 나의 잃은 양을 찾아내었노라 하리라
[7] 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이와 같이 죄인 한 사람이 회개하면 하늘에서는 회개할 것 없는 의인 아흔아홉으로 말미암아 기뻐하는 것보다 더하리라
[8] 어떤 여자가 열 드라크마가 있는데 하나를 잃으면 등불을 켜고 집을 쓸며 찾아내기까지 부지런히 찾지 아니하겠느냐
[9] 또 찾아낸즉 벗과 이웃을 불러 모으고 말하되 나와 함께 즐기자 잃은 드라크마를 찾아내었노라 하리라
[10] 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이와 같이 죄인 한 사람이 회개하면 하나님의 사자들 앞에 기쁨이 되느니라

The Value Of One [ Luke 15:1 - 15:10 ]
What man ... having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost? — Luke 15:4
Only hours before Kim Haskins’ high school graduation, an auto accident took the life of her father and left Kim and her mother hospitalized. The next day, Joe Garrett, Kim’s high school principal, visited her at the hospital and said they wanted to do something special for her at the school. The Gazette (Colorado Springs) article by James Drew described the outpouring of love and support as the teachers, administrators, and classmates—deeply touched by Kim’s loss—filled the high school auditorium a few days later at a graduation ceremony just for her.
Principal Garrett said, “We talk a lot in education about no child left behind. In the military, they talk about no soldier left behind. Today, this is about no graduate left behind.”
Jesus underscored the importance of every person to God with three stories about something lost—a sheep, a coin, and a son (Luke 15). In each story, a person has lost something of great value. When it is found, friends and neighbors are called to celebrate and rejoice together.
The point is clear: We are all of great value to God, who offers us forgiveness and new life through Christ. And He faithfully pursues us with His love and grace. There is great joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (v.7).
I was lost but Jesus found me—
Found the sheep that went astray,
Threw His loving arms around me,
Drew me back into His way. — Rowley
Our value is measured by what God has done for us.
Luke 15:1-10
[1] Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.
[2] And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them."
[3] So He spoke this parable to them, saying:
[4] "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
[5] "And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
[6] "And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'
[7] "I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
[8] "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?
[9] "And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!'
[10] "Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
