영향력 있는 사람 [ 열왕기하 5:1 - 5:15 ]
그의 여주인에게 이르되 우리 주인이 사마리아에 계신 선지자 앞에 계셨으면 좋겠나이다 그가 그 나병을 고치리이다 - 열왕기하 5:3
구글 검색창에 “영향력 있는 사람”이라고 치면 “이 세상에서 가장 영향력 있는 사람들” 명단을 다양하게 볼 수 있습니다. 대개는 정치지도자, 기업가, 운동선수, 그리고 과학, 예술, 연예계 사람들이 이런 명단에 포함되어있습니다. 이런 사람들을 위해서 일하는 요리사나 청소부의 이름은 찾을 수 없습니다. 그러나 소위 낮은 지위의 사람들이 종종 그들이 섬기는 사람들에게 영향을 끼치기도 합니다.
아주 높은 지위의 군대장관 나아만의 이야기에는 두 왕과 하나님의 선지자가 함께 등장합니다(왕하 5:1-15). 하지만 나아만 장군의 지위를 위태롭게 만들고 삶을 파괴시킬 수도 있는 나병으로부터 치유 받을 수 있도록 인도해준 사람들은 눈에 드러나지 않는 하인들이었습니다. 이스라엘 땅에서 포로로 잡혀 온 어린 여종이 사마리아에 있는 선지자가 나아만을 고칠 수 있다고 그의 아내에게 말하였고(2-3절), 요단강에 몸을 씻으라는 엘리사의 말에 나아만이 화를 냈을 때에는 그의 종들이 나서서 그에게 선지자의 명령을 따르라고 설득하였습니다. 그 결과 나아만의 건강이 회복되었고, 그는 “내가 이제 이스라엘 외에는 온 천하에 신이 없는 줄을 아나이다”(15절)라고 선언하게 되었습니다.
예수 그리스도를 따르는 자들로서의 우리의 역할을 보여주는 얼마나 아름다운 모습입니까! 우리는 영향력이 있는 사람이 되라고 부름을 받았습니다. 주님의 종으로서 다른 사람들을 주님께로 향하게 하면, 주님께서 그들을 어루만져 그들의 삶이 변화됩니다.
주님, 나아만의 여종 같은 영향력 있는 삶을 살아, 다른 사람들을
주님께로 향하게 하여 그들의 삶을 어루만질 수 있도록
용감하고 담대하게 살기를 원합니다.
성령님, 저를 성령님의 능력으로 채워주소서.
그리스도는 다른 사람들을 불러 모으기 위해
우리를 내보내신다.
열왕기하 5:1-15
[1] 아람 왕의 군대 장관 나아만은 그의 주인 앞에서 크고 존귀한 자니 이는 여호와께서 전에 그에게 아람을 구원하게 하셨음이라 그는 큰 용사이나 나병환자더라
[2] 전에 아람 사람이 떼를 지어 나가서 이스라엘 땅에서 어린 소녀 하나를 사로잡으매 그가 나아만의 아내에게 수종들더니
[3] 그의 여주인에게 이르되 우리 주인이 사마리아에 계신 선지자 앞에 계셨으면 좋겠나이다 그가 그 나병을 고치리이다 하는지라
[4] 나아만이 들어가서 그의 주인께 아뢰어 이르되 이스라엘 땅에서 온 소녀의 말이 이러이러하더이다 하니
[5] 아람 왕이 이르되 갈지어다 이제 내가 이스라엘 왕에게 글을 보내리라 하더라 나아만이 곧 떠날새 은 십 달란트와 금 육천 개와 의복 열 벌을 가지고 가서
[6] 이스라엘 왕에게 그 글을 전하니 일렀으되 내가 내 신하 나아만을 당신에게 보내오니 이 글이 당신에게 이르거든 당신은 그의 나병을 고쳐 주소서 하였더라
[7] 이스라엘 왕이 그 글을 읽고 자기 옷을 찢으며 이르되 내가 사람을 죽이고 살리는 하나님이냐 그가 어찌하여 사람을 내게로 보내 그의 나병을 고치라 하느냐 너희는 깊이 생각하고 저 왕이 틈을 타서 나와 더불어 시비하려 함인줄 알라 하니라
[8] 하나님의 사람 엘리사가 이스라엘 왕이 자기의 옷을 찢었다 함을 듣고 왕에게 보내 이르되 왕이 어찌하여 옷을 찢었나이까 그 사람을 내게로 오게 하소서 그가 이스라엘 중에 선지자가 있는 줄을 알리이다 하니라
[9] 나아만이 이에 말들과 병거들을 거느리고 이르러 엘리사의 집 문에 서니
[10] 엘리사가 사자를 그에게 보내 이르되 너는 가서 요단 강에 몸을 일곱 번 씻으라 네 살이 회복되어 깨끗하리라 하는지라
[11] 나아만이 노하여 물러가며 이르되 내 생각에는 그가 내게로 나와 서서 그의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 부르고 그의 손을 그 부위 위에 흔들어 나병을 고칠까 하였도다
[12] 다메섹 강 아바나와 바르발은 이스라엘 모든 강물보다 낫지 아니하냐 내가 거기서 몸을 씻으면 깨끗하게 되지 아니하랴 하고 몸을 돌려 분노하여 떠나니
[13] 그의 종들이 나아와서 말하여 이르되 내 아버지여 선지자가 당신에게 큰 일을 행하라 말하였더면 행하지 아니하였으리이까 하물며 당신에게 이르기를 씻어 깨끗하게 하라 함이리이까 하니
[14] 나아만이 이에 내려가서 하나님의 사람의 말대로 요단 강에 일곱 번 몸을 잠그니 그의 살이 어린 아이의 살 같이 회복되어 깨끗하게 되었더라
[15] 나아만이 모든 군대와 함께 하나님의 사람에게로 도로 와서 그의 앞에 서서 이르되 내가 이제 이스라엘 외에는 온 천하에 신이 없는 줄을 아나이다 청하건대 당신의 종에게서 예물을 받으소서 하니

A Person Of Influence [ 2 Kings 5:1 - 5:15 ]
She said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.” — 2 Kings 5:3
If you Google “person of influence,” the search will take you to various lists of “the most influential people in the world.” These lists usually include political leaders; business entrepreneurs and athletes; along with people in science, the arts, and entertainment. You will not fi-nd the names of cooks and cleaners who work for them. Yet those in so-called lowly positions often influence the people they serve.
The story of Naaman, a highranking military commander, includes two kings and a prophet of God (2 Kings 5:1-15). Yet it was the servants in the background whose words led to Naaman being cured of leprosy, a career-ending, life-changing disease. A young servant girl taken captive from Israel told Naaman’s wife that a prophet in Samaria could heal him (vv.2-3). When Elisha’s instructions to bathe in the Jordan River angered Naaman, his servants urged him to follow the prophet’s orders. The result was Naaman’s restoration to health and his declaration, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel”(v.15).
What a beautiful picture of our role as followers of Jesus Christ! We are called to be people of influence─the Lord’s servants who point others to the One whose touch can change their lives. — David McCasland
Lord, I would like to live a life of influence like
Naaman’s servant girl─to be brave and bold
to touch the lives of others by pointing them to
You. Fill me, Holy Spirit, with Your power.
Christ sends us out to bring others in.
2 Kings 5:1-15
[1] Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the LORD had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
[2] Now bands from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman's wife.
[3] She said to her mistress, "If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy."
[4] Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said.
[5] "By all means, go," the king of Aram replied. "I will send a letter to the king of Israel." So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing.
[6] The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: "With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy."
[7] As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, "Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!"
[8] When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: "Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel."
[9] So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house.
[10] Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed."
[11] But Naaman went away angry and said, "I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.
[12] Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than any of the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed?" So he turned and went off in a rage.
[13] Naaman's servants went to him and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, 'Wash and be cleansed'!"
[14] So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.
[15] Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, "Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. Please accept now a gift from your servant."
