간단하게 하라 [ 고린도후서 1:12 - 1:14 ]
오직 너희가 읽고 아는 것 외에 우리가 다른 것을 쓰지 아니하노니 - 고린도후서 1:13
미국의 4대 대통령이었던 제임스 매디슨은 미국헌법의 초안을 만드는데 중요한 역할을 하였습니다. 그는 “너무 방대하여 읽기 어렵고, 앞뒤가 맞지 않아 이해할 수 없는” 법을 제정하지 말라고 경고하였습니다. 내가 읽어본 정부의 복잡한 서류양식을 생각해보면, 오늘날도 그의 충고에 좀 더 귀를 기울일 필요가 있습니다!
이따금 복음을 전할 때, 우리는 필요 이상으로 복음을 복잡하게 만듭니다. 우리는 성경이 구원에 대한 복음을 분명하고 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 언어로 설명해놓은 것을 기뻐해야 합니다. 예수님은 교육을 많이 받은 바리새인 니고데모에게, “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라”(요 3:16)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그리고 나중에 “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라”(14:6)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 바울사도는 어떻게 해야 구원을 얻을 수 있는지를 묻는 빌립보의 간수에게, “주 예수를 믿으라 그리하면 너와 네 집이 구원을 받으리라”(행 16:31)라고 간단하게 말해주었습니다.
하나님의 소중한 사랑이야기는 간단합니다. 하나님은 우리를 죄와 죽음에서 구하시기 위해 그분의 아들을 보내주셨습니다. 어린아이들도 이해할 수 있는 놀라운 복음입니다.

누구도 들어보지 못한 가장 귀하고
사랑스러운 이야기를 내게 들려주세요
우리는 그리스도를 믿음으로 하나님의 용서하심을 받고

고린도후서 1:12-14
[12] 우리가 세상에서 특별히 너희에 대하여 하나님의 거룩함과 진실함으로 행하되 육체의 지혜로 하지 아니하고 하나님의 은혜로 행함은 우리 양심이 증언하는 바니 이것이 우리의 자랑이라
[13] 오직 너희가 읽고 아는 것 외에 우리가 다른 것을 쓰지 아니하노니 너희가 완전히 알기를 내가 바라는 것은
[14] 너희가 우리를 부분적으로 알았으나 우리 주 예수의 날에는 너희가 우리의 자랑이 되고 우리가 너희의 자랑이 되는 그것이라

Keep It Simple [ 2 Corinthians 1:12 - 1:14 ]
We are not writing any other things to you than what you [can] read or understand. — 2 Corinthians 1:13
James Madison, fourth president of the United States, was instrumental in the drafting of the US constitution. He warned against creating laws “so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” Based on some of the complicated government forms I’ve read, that’s advice that still needs to be heeded a little more often!
Sometimes when sharing the gospel, we make it more complicated than it needs to be. We can be glad that the Bible presents the good news of salvation in clear, easily understood language. Jesus said to Nicodemus, an educated Pharisee, that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). He later said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”(14:6). The apostle Paul said it in straightforward language to the jailor in Philippi who asked how to be saved: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”(Acts 16:31).
God’s precious love story is simple. He sent His Son to rescue us from sin and death. Wonderful news that even children can understand.

Through faith in Christ, we receive God’s pardon and escape sin’s penalty.
2 Corinthians 1:12-14
[12] Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace.
[13] For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that,
[14] as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.
