굳건히 서 있으라 [ 골로새서 1:19 - 1:27 ]
 
견실하며 흔들리지 말고 항상 주의 일에 더욱 힘쓰는 자들이 되라 이는 너희 수고가 주 안에서 헛되지 않은 줄 앎이라 - 고린도전서 15:58

고등학교 시절, 지구과학 과목의 마지막 과제로 나는 친구와 함께 유체실험 테이블을 만든 적이 있습니다. 아버지의 많은 도움을 받아 중간에 경첩이 달린 긴 합판상자를 만들어 플라스틱으로 모서리를 마무리한 다음 모래를 채웠습니다. 한쪽 끝에는 호스를 연결하고 반대쪽 끝에는 배수구를 뚫어놓았습니다. 조립이 끝난 후, 테이블 한쪽을 높게 하고 호스의 물을 틀어주어 반대쪽 끝의 구멍을 향해 물줄기가 생기는 것을 관찰하였습니다. 그 다음 실험은 물이 흐르는 수로에 돌멩이를 놓고 나서 물길이 어떻게 변하는지를 관찰하는 것이었습니다.

이 과제는 과학에 대해서만 아니라 인생에 대해서도 내게 많은 가르침을 주었습니다. 내가 강둑위에 서 있으면 물이 흐르는 방향을 바꿀 수 없다는 것도 알게 되었습니다. 인생의 흐름을 바꾸려면 내가 그 흐름 속으로 들어가야 합니다. 예수님께서 바로 그렇게 하셨습니다. 성경은 구원을 바위(반석)로 표현하고 있으며(삼하 22:47; 시 62:2,6-7), 바울사도는 예수님이 바로 그 반석이라고 분명히 말하고 있습니다(고전 10:4). 하나님은 인류역사의 진로를 바꾸시기 위해 그 역사의 흐름 가운데 예수님을 두셨던 것입니다.

우리가 그리스도 안에 견고히 서서 주님의 일에 힘쓸 때, 하나님은 다른 사람들을 하나님께로 이끄는 우리의 순종의 행위들을 통하여 역사의 흐름을 바꾸어 가십니다.

골로새서 1:19-27

 [19] 아버지께서는 모든 충만으로 예수 안에 거하게 하시고
[20] 그의 십자가의 피로 화평을 이루사 만물 곧 땅에 있는 것들이나 하늘에 있는 것들이 그로 말미암아 자기와 화목하게 되기를 기뻐하심이라
[21] 전에 악한 행실로 멀리 떠나 마음으로 원수가 되었던 너희를

[23] 만일 너희가 믿음에 거하고 터 위에 굳게 서서 너희 들은 바 복음의 소망에서 흔들리지 아니하면 그리하리라 이 복음은 천하 만민에게 전파된 바요 나 바울은 이 복음의 일꾼이 되었노라
[24] 나는 이제 너희를 위하여 받는 괴로움을 기뻐하고 그리스도의 남은 고난을 그의 몸된 교회를 위하여 내 육체에 채우노라

Stand Firm [ Colossians 1:19 - 1:27 ] - hymn320 
 
Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. — 1 Corinthians 15:58
As our final project for a high school earth science class, a friend and I built a stream table. With extensive help from my father, we built a long plywood box with a hinge in the middle. Then we lined it with plastic and filled it with sand. At one end we attached a hose. At the other end was a drainage hole. After assembling all of it, we raised one end of the stream table, turned on the water, and watched as it created a path directly to the hole at the other end. The next part of the experiment was to place a rock in the stream and watch how it changed the path of the water.

 This project taught me as much about life as it did about science. I learned that I can’t change the direction things are going if I’m on the bank of the river. I have to step into the stream of life and stand there to divert the flow. That’s what Jesus did. The Bible refers to salvation as a rock(2 Sam.22:47; Ps.62:2,6-7), and the apostle Paul clarifies that Christ is that Rock(1 Cor.10:4). God placed Jesus in the stream of history to change its course.

 When we remain steadfast in Christ, abounding in the work of the Lord, God uses us to change the course of history through acts of obedience that turn others to Him.

Colossians 1:19-27

 [19] For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
 [20] and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
 [21] Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
 [22] But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--
 [23] if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
 [24] Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
 [25] I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness--
 [26] the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
 [27] To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
