뒤부터 읽기 [ 요한계시록 21:1 - 21:7 ]
이기는 자는 이것들을 상속으로 받으리라 나는 그의 하나님이 되고 그는 내 아들이 되리라 - 요한계시록 21:7
고백하건대, 나는 때때로 책을 읽을 때 앞부분보다 뒤쪽을 먼저 읽을 때가 있습니다. 그렇게 함으로써 어떤 등장인물이 살아남고 또 살지 못하는지를 미리 알게 됩니다. 그렇게 내용의 결과를 알고 나면 나는 줄거리와 거기에 등장하는 인물들에 대해 여유로운 마음이 되어 몰입하면서 즐길 수가 있습니다.
마찬가지로 성경의 마지막 책인 요한계시록을 먼저 읽는 것도 예수님을 따르는 사람들에게 격려와 위안이 될 수 있습니다. 성경은 반복하여 그리스도인을 이기는 자라고 말합니다(요일 4:4; 5:4; 계 2:7,11,17,26; 3:5,12,21). 우리는 지금도 이기는 자가 될 수 있으며 또 영원히 그렇게 될 것입니다.
요한사도는 계시록에서 새 하늘과 새 땅을 본 것에 대해 이야기하면서(21:1), 예수님을 구주로 영접한 자들이 맞이하는 최후 승리가 어떠한 것인지를 묘사하고 있습니다. 그때가 되면 우리는 사망과 애통과 곡하는 것과 아픈 것을 겪지 않을 것입니다(4절). “이기는 자는 이것들을 상속으로 받으리라 나는 그의 하나님이 되고 그는 내 아들이 되리라”(7절)라고 하나님이 선포하십니다. 주님이 우리와 함께 거하시고(3절), “만물을 새롭게 하실”(5절) 것입니다.
오늘 겪는 시련이 감당하기에 벅차다고 느껴진다면, 당신이 그분의 임재 안에 영원히 거하게 될 이야기의 끝부분을 주님께 보여 달라고 하십시오.
십자가 군병들아 주 위해 일어나
이날에 접전하고 곧 개가 부르라
승전한 군사들은 영생을 얻으며
영광의 주와 함께 왕 노릇 하리라
오늘 희망이 필요하다면 이야기의 끝을 기억하라.

요한계시록 21:1-7
[1] 또 내가 새 하늘과 새 땅을 보니 처음 하늘과 처음 땅이 없어졌고 바다도 다시 있지 않더라
[2] 또 내가 보매 거룩한 성 새 예루살렘이 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려오니 그 준비한 것이 신부가 남편을 위하여 단장한 것 같더라
[3] 내가 들으니 보좌에서 큰 음성이 나서 이르되 보라 하나님의 장막이 사람들과 함께 있으매 하나님이 그들과 함께 계시리니 그들은 하나님의 백성이 되고 하나님은 친히 그들과 함께 계셔서
[4] 모든 눈물을 그 눈에서 닦아 주시니 다시는 사망이 없고 애통하는 것이나 곡하는 것이나 아픈 것이 다시 있지 아니하리니 처음 것들이 다 지나갔음이러라
[5] 보좌에 앉으신 이가 이르시되 보라 내가 만물을 새롭게 하노라 하시고 또 이르시되 이 말은 신실하고 참되니 기록하라 하시고
[6] 또 내게 말씀하시되 이루었도다 나는 알파와 오메가요 처음과 마지막이라 내가 생명수 샘물을 목마른 자에게 값없이 주리니
[7] 이기는 자는 이것들을 상속으로 받으리라 나는 그의 하나님이 되고 그는 내 아들이 되리라

Read Backwards [ Revelation 21:1 - 21:7 ]
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. —Revelation 21:7
I confess that I sometimes read the end of a book before I read the beginning. Doing so allows me to know which characters live and which characters don’t. When I know how it will turn out, I’m able to relax and thoroughly appreciate and enjoy the story and the characters.
In a similar way, reading the final book of the Bible, the book of Revelation, can be an encouragement and comfort for the followers of Jesus. Time and again, Christians are called to be overcomers (1 John 4:4; 5:4; Rev. 2:7,11,17,26; 3:5,12,21). We can be overcomers now and will be for all eternity.
As the apostle John talks about the revealing of the new heaven and the new earth in Revelation (21:1), he describes what the final victory will look like for those who have received Jesus as Savior. At that time, we will see the end of death, tears, sorrow, and pain (v.4). The Lord declares: “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son”(v.7). He will dwell with us (v.3), and He will “make all things new”(v.5).

Revelation 21:1-7
[1] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
[2] I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
[3] And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
[4] He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
[5] He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
[6] He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
[7] He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
