56  그럼에도 그들은 가장 높으신 하나님을 시험하고 거역하면서, 그의 계명을 지키지 않고,
57  조상처럼 계명을 어기고 하나님께 반역하며, 빗나가는 활처럼 변절하였다.
58  그들은 산당에 모이다가 그의 노를 격동하며, 조각한 우상을 섬기다가 그를 진노하게 하였다.
59  하나님께서 듣고 노하셔서, 이스라엘을 아주 내버리셨다.
60  사람과 함께 지내시던 그 천막, 실로의 성막을 내버리셨다.
61  주의 능력을 나타내는 궤를 포로와 함께 내주시고, 주의 영광을 나타내는 궤를 원수의 손에 내주셨다.
62  주의 백성을 칼에 내주시고, 주의 소유에 분노를 쏟으셨다.
63  불로 젊은 총각들을 삼켜 버리시니, 처녀들은 혼인 노래를 들을 수 없었다.
64  제사장들은 칼에 맞아 넘어지고, 제사장의 아내들은 마음 놓고 곡 한 번 못 하였다.
65  드디어 주님은 잠에서 깨어난 것처럼 분연히 일어나셨다. 포도주로 달아오른 용사처럼 일어나셨다.
66  원수들을 뒤쫓아가서 쳐부수시며, 길이길이 그들을 욕되게 하셨다.
67  주님은 요셉의 장막도 거절하시고, 에브라임 지파도 선택하지 아니하시고,
68  다만, 유다 지파만을 선택하셨으니, 그가 사랑하신 시온 산을 선택하셨다.
69  주님은 성소를 높은 하늘처럼 세우셨다. 기초가 영원히 흔들리지 않는 땅처럼 세우셨다.
70  주님의 종 다윗을 선택하시되, 양의 우리에서 일하는 그를 뽑으셨다.
71  암양을 돌보는 그를 데려다가, 그의 백성 야곱과 그의 유산 이스라엘의 목자가 되게 하셨다.
72  그래서 그는 한결같은 마음으로 그들을 기르고, 슬기로운 손으로 그들을 인도하였다.


56 But they kept testing and rebelling against God Most High.
    They did not obey his laws.
57 They turned back and were as faithless as their parents.
    They were as undependable as a crooked bow.
58 They angered God by building shrines to other gods;
    they made him jealous with their idols.
59 When God heard them, he was very angry,
    and he completely rejected Israel.
60 Then he abandoned his dwelling at Shiloh,
    the Tabernacle where he had lived among the people.
61 He allowed the Ark of his might to be captured;
    he surrendered his glory into enemy hands.
62 He gave his people over to be butchered by the sword,
    because he was so angry with his own people—his special possession.
63 Their young men were killed by fire;
    their young women died before singing their wedding songs.
64 Their priests were slaughtered,
    and their widows could not mourn their deaths.

65 Then the Lord rose up as though waking from sleep,
    like a warrior aroused from a drunken stupor.
66 He routed his enemies
    and sent them to eternal shame.
67 But he rejected Joseph’s descendants;
    he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim.
68 He chose instead the tribe of Judah,
    and Mount Zion, which he loved.
69 There he built his sanctuary as high as the heavens,
    as solid and enduring as the earth.
70 He chose his servant David,
    calling him from the sheep pens.
71 He took David from tending the ewes and lambs
    and made him the shepherd of Jacob’s descendants—
    God’s own people, Israel.
72 He cared for them with a true heart
    and led them with skillful hands.
