성공을 빕니다! [ 요한2서 1:1 - 1:11 ] - 찬송가 516장
누구든지 이 교훈을 가지지 않고 너희에게 나아가거든 그를 집에 들이지도 말고 인사도 하지 말라 - 요한2서 1:10
1962년, 미국인으로서는 역사상 처음으로 존 글렌이 지구 궤도를 돌았습니다. 로켓이 발사되어 올라가자, 지상통제실에서 “존 글렌, 성공을 빕니다.”라고 말했습니다. “성공을 빕니다.”(Godspeed)라는 말은 “하나님이 당신을 번영케 하시기를 바랍니다.”라는 표현에서 왔습니다.
요즈음은 이 말을 자주 듣지 못하지만, 요한사도가 요한2서에서 이 단어를 사용하였습니다. “누구든지 이 교훈을 가지지 않고 너희에게 나아가거든 그를 집에 들이지도 말고 인사(Godspeed)도 하지 말라”(요이 1:10).
“사랑의 사도”로 불리어 온 요한은 왜 믿는 자들에게 다른 사람에게 축복하는 말을 하지 말라고 경고를 하고 있을까요? 당시 복음전도자들은 그리스도인들이 따뜻하게 제공하는 숙소와 식사 대접에 의존하며 돌아다녔습니다. 여기서 요한은 믿는 자들에게 성경에서 말하는 진리의 중요성을 말하고 있는 것입니다. 만일 순회하는 전도자들이 사도들의 가르침과 일관된 교리를 가르치지 않으면, 그들에게 숙소를 제공하거나 재정적으로 지원함으로써 그들의 사역을 축복해서는 안 된다는 것이었습니다.
이것은 오늘날의 믿는 자들에게도 똑같이 적용됩니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 자비를 베푸시듯이 우리도 모든 사람들에게 자비를 베풀어야 합니다. 그러나 누군가로부터 그들의 일을 재정적으로 도와달라는 부탁을 받았을 때, 언제나 하나님께 먼저 지혜를 구하는 것이 중요합니다. 진리로 인도하시는 성령님께서(요 16:13) 우리가 만나는 사람들에게 ‘성공을 빕니다’라고 말할 수 있는 적절한 때를 알려주실 것입니다.
제 마음을 아시는 사랑하는 주님, 주님을 사랑합니다.
주님의 나라가 번성케 되기를 원하오니,
제게 지혜를 주셔서 어디서 어떻게 참여해야 할지를
알게 해주십시오. 감사합니다.
성령님은 성경말씀을 통해서
진리와 거짓을 구별할 수 있는 지혜를 주신다.
요한2서 1:1-11
[1] 장로인 나는 택하심을 받은 부녀와 그의 자녀들에게 편지하노니 내가 참으로 사랑하는 자요 나뿐 아니라 진리를 아는 모든 자도 그리하는 것은
[2] 우리 안에 거하여 영원히 우리와 함께 할 진리로 말미암음이로다
[3] 은혜와 긍휼과 평강이 하나님 아버지와 아버지의 아들 예수 그리스도께로부터 진리와 사랑 가운데서 우리와 함께 있으리라
[4] 너의 자녀들 중에 우리가 아버지께 받은 계명대로 진리를 행하는 자를 내가 보니 심히 기쁘도다
[5] 부녀여, 내가 이제 네게 구하노니 서로 사랑하자 이는 새 계명 같이 네게 쓰는 것이 아니요 처음부터 우리가 가진 것이라
[6] 또 사랑은 이것이니 우리가 그 계명을 따라 행하는 것이요 계명은 이것이니 너희가 처음부터 들은 바와 같이 그 가운데서 행하라 하심이라
[7] 미혹하는 자가 세상에 많이 나왔나니 이는 예수 그리스도께서 육체로 오심을 부인하는 자라 이런 자가 미혹하는 자요 적그리스도니
[8] 너희는 스스로 삼가 우리가 일한 것을 잃지 말고 오직 온전한 상을 받으라
[9] 지나쳐 그리스도의 교훈 안에 거하지 아니하는 자는 다 하나님을 모시지 못하되 교훈 안에 거하는 그 사람은 아버지와 아들을 모시느니라
[10] 누구든지 이 교훈을 가지지 않고 너희에게 나아가거든 그를 집에 들이지도 말고 인사도 하지 말라
[11] 그에게 인사하는 자는 그 악한 일에 참여하는 자임이라

Godspeed! [ 2 John 1:1 - 1:11 ] - hymn516
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him. — 2 John 1:10
In 1962, John Glenn made history as the first American to orbit the Earth. As the rocket ascended, ground control said, “Godspeed, John Glenn.” “Godspeed” comes from the expression, “May God prosper you.”
Though we don’t often hear this word today, the apostle John used it in his second epistle: “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed” (2 John 1:10 kjv).
John has been referred to as “the apostle of love,” so why would he warn believers against pronouncing a blessing on others? Traveling evangelists were dependent on the hospitality of Christians to provide them with room and board. John was telling the believers that biblical truth is important. If itinerant missionaries were not preaching doctrine consistent with apostolic teaching, believers were not to bless their work by providing lodging or financial assistance.
This is also true for believers today. We are to treat everyone with kindness because God is kind to us. But when asked to financially support an endeavor, it’s important to always ask Him for wisdom. The Spirit who guides us into truth (John 16:13) will show us when it is appropriate to bid Godspeed to those we encounter.
Dear Lord, You know my heart. I love Youand want Your kingdom to prosper.Give me Your wisdom to know where You wantme to take part and how. Thank You.
God’s Spirit through His Word gives wisdom to discern truth from error.
2 John 1:1-11
[1] The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth--and not I only, but also all who know the truth--
[2] because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
[3] Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love.
[4] It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.
[5] And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.
[6] And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
[7] Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
[8] Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
[9] Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
[10] If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
[11] Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
