새로운 눈 [ 에베소서 1:15 - 1:21 ] - 찬송가 289장
너희 마음의 눈을 밝히사…그 기업의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇이며 - 에베소서 1:18
근래에 만났던 한 대학생이 예수님을 영접했습니다. 그 여학생은 자신의 삶에 일어난 첫 번째 변화를 이렇게 묘사했습니다. “예수님을 믿어 구원을 받았을 때 마치 천국에서 하나님이 손을 뻗쳐 나에게 새로운 눈을 심어주신 것 같았습니다. 영적 진리를 이해할 수 있게 되었으니까요!”
구주를 만나서 새로운 영적 지각력을 갖게 된 이 여학생의 이야기는 무척 감동적입니다. 그러나 이와 같은 경험이 아주 특이한 것은 아닙니다. 그리스도를 구주로 영접할 때 누구나 다 영적인 시각을 갖게 됩니다. 그러나 가끔씩 안개가 흘러들어와 우리의 영적인 시야가 흐려지고 선명하게 보이지 않게 됩니다. 우리가 주님과의 관계를 게을리 할 때 이런 일이 일어납니다.
성도들의 영적시각을 위한 바울의 뜨거운 기도 속에서, 우리는 하나님이 우리를 위해 이루신 일과 그리스도를 통해 이루실 일에 대해 온전히 감사드리는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 알게 됩니다. 그는 우리의 지각의 눈이 떠져서 “그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 안에서 그 기업의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇”(엡 1:18)인지 알게 해달라고 기도했습니다.
믿는 사람들 각자는 영적인 진리를 분별할 수 있는 새로운 눈을 받았습니다. 우리의 마음이 계속 하나님을 바라보고 있으면 영적인 눈으로 볼 수 있도록 도와주실 것입니다.
내 안에 그리스도의 형상이 완전히 이루어지기까지
내 속의 내 영혼이 주님을 갈구합니다
하나님의 사랑이 나의 마음을 넓혀주셔서
주님의 충만함을 내려주소서
내가 한 때는 장님이었으나 지금은 볼 수 있다!
에베소서 1:15-21
[15] 이로 말미암아 주 예수 안에서 너희 믿음과 모든 성도를 향한 사랑을 나도 듣고
[16] 내가 기도할 때에 기억하며 너희로 말미암아 감사하기를 그치지 아니하고
[17] 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 영광의 아버지께서 지혜와 계시의 영을 너희에게 주사 하나님을 알게 하시고
[18] 너희 마음의 눈을 밝히사 그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 안에서 그 기업의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇이며
[19] 그의 힘의 위력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떠한 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라
[20] 그의 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사
[21] 모든 통치와 권세와 능력과 주권과 이 세상뿐 아니라 오는 세상에 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나게 하시고

New Eyes [ Ephesians 1:15 - 1:21 ] - hymn289
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know . . . the riches of the glory of His inheritance. — Ephesians 1:18
A college student I met had recently placed her faith in Christ. She described her initial life-change this way: “When I trusted Christ for salvation, it felt like God reached down from heaven and placed a new set of eyes in my eye sockets. I could understand spiritual truth!”
It was moving to hear how her encounter with the Savior brought new spiritual perception. But her experience is not unique. Everyone is endowed with spiritual sight when they trust Christ as their Savior. Yet, at times a “fog” rolls in and our spiritual vision becomes cloudy and unclear. That happens when we neglect our relationship with Him.
In Paul’s fervent prayer for believers’ spiritual sight, we see how important it is to fully appreciate all that God has done and will do for us through Christ. He prayed that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened that we “may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:18).
Each believer has been given new eyes to discern spiritual truth. As we keep our hearts tuned to God, He will help us to see with our spiritual eyes all that He has given to us in Christ.

Ephesians 1:15-21
[15] For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
[16] I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
[17] I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
[18] I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
[19] and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
[20] which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
[21] far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
