오솔길 만들기 [ 잠언 4:1 - 4:7 ] - 찬송가 516장
 
아들들아 아비의 훈계를 들으며 명철을 얻기에 주의하라 - 잠언 4:1
미시간의 원주민 인디언들은 그곳에 고속 도로를 최초로 건설한 기술자들이었습니다. 거의 예외 없이, 미시간의 중요한 고속도로는 백인들이 오기 수 백 년 전에 황무지를 가로 질러 인디언들이 만들어 놓은 오솔길을 따라 건설 되었습니다. 그 길은 폭이 30센티미터에서 45센티미터 정도였는데 사람들은 안전을 위해 한 줄로 걸어갔습니다. 그 후에 말들이 지나다녀 길이 넓어졌습니다. 나중에는 마차가 등장해 그 오솔길들은 비포장도로가 되었고 다음에 고속도로로 변화되었습니다.

이와 비슷하게, 솔로몬은 그의 아버지가 만든 오솔길을 따라 갔으며 그의 아들들과 손자들을 위해 그 길을 다졌습니다. 그는 자신이 아버지의 건전한 가르침을 따른 것처럼 아들들에게 그의 명령을 잘 지키라고 격려함으로써 이 일을 했습니다(잠 4:4-5). 그리하여 이 아버지는 실질적이고 영적인 훌륭한 조언을 하면서 “하나님의 마음에 합한 사람이라”(삼상 13:14; 행 13:22)고 불렸던 아이들의 할아버지 다윗으로부터 배운 것을 아들들에게 전해 주었습니다. 믿는 자들의 아이들은 흔히 가족으로부터 하나님에 대한 가장 좋은 것을 배우곤 합니다.

우리들의 육적이고 영적인 아이들은 우리가 선택하는 길을 주의해서 봅니다. 하나님의 자녀로서 우리는 의롭고 지혜롭고 깨끗한 오솔길을 만들어야 합니다. 그래서 이후 세대가 우리가 닦아놓은 오솔길을 걷는다면, 그 길은 고속도로, 즉 하나님의 영광을 전해주는 유산이 될 수 있습니다.
  
    
주님 제가 삶의 길을 걸을 때
제 발걸음이 바르고 진실하도록 도우소서
저의 뒤에 오는 사람들이
주님과 함께 바르게 걷도록 하옵소서
 
 
 
우리가 하나님을 따를 때

[2] 내가 선한 도리를 너희에게 전하노니 내 법을 떠나지 말라
[3] 나도 내 아버지에게 아들이었었으며 내 어머니 보기에 유약한 외아들이었었노라
[4] 아버지가 내게 가르쳐 이르기를 내 말을 네 마음에 두라 내 명령을 지키라 그리하면 살리라
[5] 지혜를 얻으며 명철을 얻으라 내 입의 말을 잊지 말며 어기지 말라
[6] 지혜를 버리지 말라 그가 너를 보호하리라 그를 사랑하라 그가 너를 지키리라
[7] 지혜가 제일이니 지혜를 얻으라 무릇 너의 얻은 것을 가져 명철을 얻을지니라

CUTTING A TRAIL [ Proverbs 4:1 - 4:7 ] - hymn516 
 
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding. - Proverbs 4:1
The Native Americans of Michigan were the state’s first highway rou-te engineers. With few exceptions, Michigan’s major highways follow the trails they cut through the wilderness hundreds of years before the white man came. A trail was 12-18 inches wide, and for safety the people fol-lowed single file. Then pack horses followed these trails, widening them. Later came wagons, and the trails became dirt roads and then highways.

In a similar way, Solomon followed the trail of his father and in turn paved the way for his sons and grandsons. He did this by encouraging his sons to heed his instructions just as he had followed the sound teaching of his father (Prov.4:4-5). So this father, giving his sons good practical and spiritual counsel, was passing on what he had learned from the boys’ grandfather, David, who was called a “man after [God’s] own heart” (1 Sam.13:14; Acts 13:22). The younger generation of believers often learns best about God from the family.

Our physical and spiritual children watch the path we’re taking. As God’s men and women, let’s make certain we cut a righteous, wise, and clear trail. Then if ongoing genera-tions choose to follow, the trail can become a highway-an ongoing legacy to God’s glory. - Dave Egner

[1] Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding;
[2] For I give you good doctrine： Do not forsake my law.
[3] When I was my father's son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,
[4] He also taught me, and said to me： "Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.
[5] Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
[6] Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.
[7] Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
