Although signatures are gradually replacing them, personal stamps are still used in Korea. They are called dojang in Korean. Personal stamps are used to seal the deal on official documents. They are also used when opening a bank account or when buying property. In such cases, any additional changes made to the contract must be okayed by your dojang. As you can see, these tiny personal stamps hold a lot of power. You should always keep tabs on your stamp because it’s as good as your signature. You can go to a typical dojang shop to have your name carved in Chinese or Korean characters on a stamp. This only takes a short while and doesn’t cost that much either. Some large stationery stores also have a dojang corner. You can also order one online these days.
