Talk about the Korean Marine Corps.



One of the most respected branches of the military is the Korean Marine Corps. It was founded a little before the Korean War, and even saw combat during Vietnam War. Called “Hae-byeong-dae” in Korean, the Korean Marine Corps is a distinct arm of the South Korean forces. Being a marine is very physically demanding. Some of the toughest and bravest men in the country serve in the Marine Corps. Not everyone can handle the Marine Corps’ grueling training regimen. That’s why people are all screened through an application and interview process. The marine Corps’s responsibilities consists of amphibious operations, ground battles, and security services, among others. When North Korea fired at Yeon-pyoend Island recently, the marines were the first to respond. Recently, the marines got some extra spotlight from the media when megastar Hyun Bin decided to do his military duty as a marine.
