Korea is kown for its stunning mountains that cover the entire country. The most famous of these is probably Mt. Baekdu (백두산), which appears in the Korean national anthem. At 2749 meters, it is the tallest mountain on the Korean peninsula and is located at the border between North Korea and China. Other well-known mountains include Mt.Seorak (설악산), Mt. Jiri (지리산), and Mt. Halla (한라산), which are all located in South Korea. Mt. Seorak is known for its lovely scenery throughout the year. It reaches the peak of its beauty in autumn, when the foliage changes colors. The tallest mountain in South Korea is Mt. Halla on Jeju Island. It is an extinct volcano with a crater lake at the top. Mt. Jiri is the tallest mainland mountain in South Korea and spans three provinces.
