Most schools and big office buildings offer a cafeteria lunch service in Korea.

At schools, lunch is served to the students at their desks.

The children receive a metal tray with rice, side dishes, and some type of soup.

This is different from Western schools where students go down to the cafeteria to eat lunch there.

Work cafeterias work a little differently.

Similar to schools, there's a set menu for the day.

Most companies sell lunch vouchers to avoid the hassle of handling cash.

You first grab your tray and silverware before getting in line.

Rice and side dishes are all self-serve.

Then a kitchen staff member will be waiting at the end to serve you your soup or stew.

After you enjoy your meal, you can help the staff out by placing all your uneaten food in your soup bowl.

You then return your tray to the dishwashing window for cleaning.




한국에서는 학교나 회사의 구내식당에서 점심 식사를 제공하는 경우가 많습니다. 학교의 경우, 교실에서 학생들에게 직접 급식합니다. 학생들은 밥, 반찬 그리고 국이 담긴 금속 식판을 받게 됩니다. 학생들이 학교 내 식당에 직접 가서 점심을 먹는 서양과는 약간 다릅니다. 기업의 사내 식당은 조금 다르게 운영됩니다. 학교와 비슷하게, 그날에 정해진 세트 메뉴가 있습니다. 대부분의 회사에서는 현금을 다루는 수고를 덜기 위해 식권을 판매합니다. 우선 식판과 수저와 젓가락을 챙겨서 줄을 섭니다. 밥과 반찬은 스스로 식판에 담습니다. 그러고 나면 줄 끝에 있는 주방 직원이 국이나 찌개를 줍니다. 식사를 마치고 난 후엔, 주방 직원들을 돕기 위해 남은 음식을 모두 국 그릇에 담습니다. 그런 뒤 식판을 설거지를 위해 식기 반납구에 가져다 줍니다.
