Pro baseball is one of the most popular sports in Korea. As many as five million baseball fans came to watch the games in 2008 alone. The great performance by the Korean national team in the 2008 Olympics was a catalyst in boosting up the number of baseball fans in Korea. There are currently eight baseball clubs in the Korean pro baseball league. The teams are the KIA Tigers, LG Twins, SK Wyverns, Doosan Bears, Lotte Giants, Samsung Lions, hanhwa Eagles, and Seoul Heroes. Each team has its home ballpark, which is located in each major city of Korea. Since my family is originally from Busan, I am a big fan of the Lotte Giants. I go see their games as often as possible when they come to play in Seoul. This year, the baseball season kicks off on April 4. I can’t wait to go see the games this season.
