Finland has rated the DVD of the much-loved children’s TV series Little House on the Prairie suitable for adult viewing only. To save money, Universal Pictures decided not to submit the series to state inspection. Finnish authorities charge $2.57 per minute for assessing the age limit on TV series. Distributors who forego this can only sell their shows with a sticker saying “Banned for under-18s”

‘초원의 집’을 성인만 볼 수 있다고?
어린이들에게 인기가 많은 TV 시리즈 ‘초원의 집’ DVD가 핀란드에서는 성인 시청에만 적합하다는 등급을 받았다. 예산을 절약하기 위해 유니버설 픽쳐스가 정부 검열을 받지 않겠다는 결정을 내렸기 때문. 핀란드 당국은 TV 시리즈의 연령 등급을 평가할 때 1분당 2.57달러의 비용을 청구한다. 이 평가를 받지 않는 배급사들은 ‘18세 미만 관람불가’ 스티커를 붙여서 시리즈를 판매해야 한다.

- Railway company under fire for ordering
children off trains

Germany’s national railway company has come under fire from passengers after inspectors ordered children off trains because they did not have the right tickets. In the fourth expulsion in 3 weeks, a 12-year-old girl was made to leave a train because she could not pay a 40 euro fine. Earlier, a 13-year-old and a 12-year-old were also forced to leave trains. One child had to carry her cello 5 km in the dark while the other was left on a platform with no money or a mobile phone.

독일 국영 철도 회사가 승객들의 원성을 사고 있다. 열차표를 제대로 구매하지 않고 부정승차했다는 이유로 검사관들이 아이들을 열차에서 내리게 했기 때문이다. 이렇게 열차에서 쫓겨난 아이들이 3주 동안 4명이나 있었는데, 그 중 한 12세 소녀는 40유로의 벌금을 물지 못해 열차에서 내려야 했다. 그 전에는 13세와 12세 된 아이들이 열차에서 쫓겨났다. 한 아이는 컴컴한 어둠 속에서 첼로를 들고 5km나 걸어가야 했고, 또 한 아이는 돈도 없고 전화도 없는 상태에서 플랫폼에 내버려졌다.
