묵은 콩이나 견과류 등 다양한 곡류를 갈아서 만든 젤리 형태의 음식입니다. 묵의 종류에는 메밀묵, 깨묵, 도토리묵 등이 있습니다. 묵 자체는 상당히 싱거운 음식이라서 묵은 양념에 따라 크게 달라집니다. 일단 묵을 한입 크기로 작게 썰어냅니다. 가장 일반적인 양념은 간장, 참기름, 고춧가루, 잘게 썬 야채와 김 등으로 무쳐내는 것입니다. 사람들이 즐겨 먹는 묵 중 하나로는 도토리 녹말로 만든 도토리묵을 꼽을 수 있습니다. 도토리묵은 식초 양념에 야채를 곁들인 묵무침으로 먹으면 맛있습니다. 특히 술안주로 좋습니다. 묵 무침을 먹을 때 가장 어울리는 술은 막걸리나 동동주 입니다. 두 가지 모두 쌀로 빚은 술로 묵 요리와는 찰떡궁합입니다. 그 외에도 밥, 야채, 양념에 묵을 버무린 묵밥도 있습니다.

Muk refers to a type of jelly-like food that is made from starch ground from different grains, beans, and nuts. Some examples are buckwheat, sesame, and acorns. Muk is pretty bland by itself, so the quality of the dish depends on how you spice it up. The block of muk is typically cut up into smaller bite-sized chunks. The most common seasonings used are soy sauce, sesame oil, chili pepper powder, chopped up vegetables and crumbled seaweed. One of people’s favorites is muk made from acorn starch, which is called dotorimuk. Dotorimuk tastes great when it is mixed with vinegar seasonings and veggies, called muk-muchim. It’s a great dish when drinking. The best drink to wash down muk-muchim with is makgeolli or dongdong-ju. These are both rice wines that perfectly complement this dish. There is also muk-bap where the muk is mixed with rice, veggies and seasonings.
