Topic - Which country do you want to visit the most? Why do you want to visit that country?
On the top of my list would be Australia. I've heard nothing but good stories about that country from friends who've already been there. I've heard there are so many beautiful beaches in Australia, so I'm sure it would be a paradise for me. It would be great to simply bask in the sun all day long. I'm also eager to see some of the exotic wildlife over there too, such as koalas and kangaroos. My friends also tell me the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of northeast Australia, is a must-see location. I'd love to go scuba diving or snorkeling there. The greatest thing about Australia is that it's summer down there when it's winter up here in the northern hemisphere. I think it would make an absolutely wonderful winter vacation spot.

Expression of the day

That's cutting it too close.
A: Until when shall we get the first draft done?
B: How about this Friday?
A: That's cutting it too close. The final deadline is next Tuesday.
B: Maybe you're right. We'll need at least a few days to make some changes.

Ed talks to Tim
• Hey, Tim, I didn't know you and Amy aren't together any more.
• Yeah, we broke up. To be exact, Amy broke up with me.
• When did this happen? How come I didn't know about it?
• Well, Amy left me a couple of months ago. She said we didn't have anything in common.
• You kept me out of the loop for two months? You seem like you don't even care about her any more.
• Oh, of course, I was devastated ─ for like two days. I wasn't in love with her or anything, so it wasn't really a painful breakup.
• Well, do you think the feeling's mutual on her end, as well?
• I don' know. I don't think she's seeing anyone on the rebound, so she's cool too, I guess.

News
-The World Trade Organization's (WTO) annual report finds world trade growth slowed to 5.5 percent in 2007 from 8.5 percent the year before. WTO predicts global trade growth will continue to slow this year.

WTO report: World trade grows, but slows
The World Trade Organization says the global financial crisis is having a negative impact on world trade. But, it says the results are uneven, with the wealthier countries generally doing worse than the poorer countries. The report says the financial market turbulence has considerably reduced economic growth projections for some major developed markets and has clouded the prospects for world trade in 2008. It expects economic growth in the United States will be flat this year and will have repercussions elsewhere, especially in Europe later in the year.
